Krung Kavee is a well maintained course located close to the domestic Don Muang airport along the Rangsit canal. The course was designed by Manabu Sakamoto who has also created over 40 championship golf courses all over the world. However, unlike many of the other Japanese course architects, Mr. Sakamoto goes for long golf courses. He also insisted on an excellent drainage system, which insures againststanding water, even in the Bangkok rainy season.
From the beautifully manicured greens to lush fairways Krung Kavee is a pleasure to play for all golfers. The course has some interesting holes including an island green Par 3, which is large enough to allow a chance for all levels of players to knock it on. The course is typical of most courses built on prior rice fields and features a combination of natural and man-made ponds and lakes as hazards. Holes 6, 7, and 8 are three successive demanding par fours and play very long even from the regular white tees. There are many lateral water hazards and several ’water carry’ holes.
Krung Kavee practices “green” maintenance, which not only gives nice playing surfaces, but also eliminated the use of environmentally unfriendly pesticides and herbicides. The clubhouse overlooks the canal and has a panoramic view of golf course. The Krua Rangsit restaurant offers some of the best Thai food in northern Bangkok including curries, soups and seafood dishes all prepared with fresh ingredients. |
