    The 27-hole Panya Indra Golf Club was designed by Ronald Fream of the USA and opened in Ram Indra, just north of Bangkok, in 1991. The golf course is just off the Outer Ring Road which makes for short travel times from Bangkok city center. The Panya Indra Golf Club is the premier and showpiece golf course of The Panya Group, which owns several others around Thailand.
     Panya Indra Golf Club comprises three separate 9-hole championship courses, each with an individual design and unique setting. Each course offers its own distinctly different playing experience. The courses aptly named are, the Lagoon Course, Palm Course or Garden Course. The golf course has been extensively landscaped with colorful flowering plants, shrubs, and bushes to provide a beautiful backdrop. Fairways are limed with palm trees and lakes and ponds come into play on almost every hotel at Panya Indra. The bunkers look as though they have been freshly carved, and the smooth flowing lines of fairways give the course a natural feel.
     Whether you play the Lagoon course (A), Palm course (B) or Garden course (C) pleasantly contoured and testing holes wait. There is more water to negotiate on the Lagoon, although the Palm and Garden nines do not lag too far behind on that score. Panya Indra offers several unusual design features, in particular undulating fairways and greens. The par three holes are perhaps the most testing aspect of this course and on four occasions the player has to hit his tee shot over water. The Palm course actually boasts an excellent island green par-3, its 4th hole. There are also some very testing dog-leg holes on each of the three nines.
     The terrain here is always fairly open with a liberal sprinkling of palm trees and splendid clover-leaf bunkering defining the holes, en route to the testing and at times mesmerizing greens.These 27 putting surfaces, sometimes relatively small in size, do not have a single flat spot on them. All your putts will be breaking left or right, up or downhill - or any combination of those movements. In a similar fashion the fairways, which are also splendidly contoured, give each hole its own unique character in this relatively compact environment.
     Course conditions are well kept year round, due in part to the popularity with local Thai business executives and government officials. The course is floodlit for night golfing and the clubhouse facilities, locker rooms, and restaurants are of a very high standard.
