The President Country Club is a classic Trent Jones Jr design of 36 holes. The course is surrounded by rice paddies and has lots of migratory birds and other wildlife in abundance. Being slightly further from Bangkok makes tee times easy to book on all but the busiest holiday weekends.
Each hole was designed to be distinct in approach from all the others. Fairways are wide, but undulating and offer a variety of lies. The rough of wiry Bermuda grass, if found, often forces the golfer to play a less aggressive lay-up shot. Water hazards come into play on about half of the holes and well positioned bunkers, a Trent Jones trademark, surround the greens. Accurate shot-making will be well rewarded. Greens run fast and true, but the player must be aware not to miss the subtle breaks found on almost every putting surface.
The pars 3’s are tricky as most of them require long water carries to greens guarded by deep bunkers. The par 4’s are mostly less than 400 yards which allows for good birdie chances for accurate second shots.
A huge clubhouse caters to all the golfers needs with a well stocked pro shop and adequate coffee shop serving both Thai and International dishes.
